Israel's actions violate Lebanon's sovereignty and international law, including the international humanitarian law, Aboul-Gheit said in a social media post. Jamal Roshdi, the spokesman for Aboul-Gheit, has said in a statement that Israel's actions need to be immediately stopped as they seriously threaten regional security and stability. He also urged Israel to halt attacks and fully implement the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. "Israel's military escalation in Lebanon has killed and displaced civilians, destroyed infrastructure, and eroded space for diplomacy. It must end," UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said in a social media post on Sunday. She also urged Hezbollah to end attacks on Israel and disarm, and called on all sides to respect the ceasefire and engage with negotiations in good faith. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Sunday expressed "great concern" over the further advance of the Israeli army in southern Lebanon, urging all conflict parties to immediately cease hostilities and return to an agreed ceasefire. In a statement, Wadephul noted that while the Israeli military action is a reaction to ongoing attacks by Hezbollah on northern Israel, any further escalation will aggravate an already tense situation and trigger new waves of displacement within Lebanon. If civilians are the ones who pay the price of a military escalation and parts of Lebanon become permanently uninhabitable, it will not make Israel's neighborhood safer in the long term, he said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier on the day that he had instructed the military to deepen and expand its grip on Lebanese areas held by Hezbollah. The instruction followed the capture of the Beaufort Ridge, including the strategic castle at its summit, in southern Lebanon by Israeli forces.
