The Russian Ministry of Defense stated in its daily briefing that over the past 24 hours, Russian forces continued striking energy and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian military, as well as sites involved in the assembly, storage, and launch of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Russia's air defense systems shot down 12 guided aerial bombs, two Flamingo missiles, and 491 fixed-wing UAVs. Additionally, Russian troops took control of one settlement in the Donetsk region. Also on Tuesday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that 228 combat engagements occurred along the front line over the past day. Ukrainian forces shot down 2,062 Russian UAVs. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Tuesday that since the early hours of the day, air defense systems had intercepted a total of 60 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones heading toward Moscow. He said it was one of the largest drone attacks launched by Ukraine since the beginning of the year. The struck oil refinery was damaged, though the resulting fire was subsequently extinguished. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on the day via social media that Ukrainian forces had struck a refinery in the Moscow region. Zelensky emphasized that the operation was a proportional act of self-defense in response to previous Russian strikes on targets within Ukraine, and a countermeasure against what he described as Russia's dragging out of the war.
