The event, also known as the World Economic Forum (WEF)'s 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, was held under the theme of "Innovating at Scale." The three-day event brought together more than 1,700 participants from more than 90 countries and regions to discuss ways to scale innovation into better jobs, stronger economies and new growth opportunities. Innovation-driven development is the key to China's long-term economic resilience and steady growth, said Chinese Premier Li Qiang when addressing the opening plenary of the forum on Wednesday. "The premier put it profoundly: we've moved from being the world's factory to becoming a provider of global solutions. In biopharmaceuticals and health, we used to follow and imitate. Now, standing on the Davos stage, we can confidently tell the world: We are offering Chinese solutions for global anti-aging," said Xu Bin, vice chairman and CEO of Zhen-Ao Group, a China-based healthcare and life science group with deep roots in nucleic acid nutrition. Across conference halls and sessions, discussions ranged from artificial intelligence (AI) and humanoid robotics to quantum technology, biomedicine, advanced manufacturing and green industries. Many of these sectors are also areas in which China has emerged as an increasingly important innovator and partner in international cooperation. "One of our big propositions as a global firm is to bring the best practices from around the world to our clients. So, for example, personally, for me to my clients in Malaysia, I would love to bring them on more go-and-see visits to China, so that they can see the latest and greatest innovation happening on the ground here, and learn from it, right? Geographic boundaries should pose no borders when it comes to learning from the latest and greatest innovation," said Vidhya Ganesan, managing partner of McKinsey's Malaysia office. "I think China overall creates huge opportunities for entire world, especially AI. And first of all, the open source is becoming a foundational technology for a lot of the startups around the world, in Europe, in Southeast Asia, and also [in the] U.S," said Zhang Yaqin, founding dean of the Institute for AI Industry Research of Tsinghua University. "No one country can undergo, even the United States or China, can undergo everything by itself. And we see that it hinders innovation, right? So as global innovation advances, partnerships definitely [are] always important, and one of the key issues to impact innovation.
