The plan, issued by the State Council on Friday, sets out the overall requirements, targets, key tasks and major projects for comprehensively advancing the initiative. It also calls for making significant progress toward building a Beautiful China, with green production and lifestyles largely established and the carbon peaking target reached on schedule by 2030. The plan sets out 18 major targets, with carbon dioxide emission, non-fossil energy share, average PM2.5 concentration, proportion of good quality water bodies, total emissions of major water and air pollutants, and forest coverage rate particularly highlighted.
