Pak is also a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK. At the museum, which houses exhibits from the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953), Pak and his party and government delegation frequently stopped to closely examine the weapons and the uniforms of Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) soldiers. During the war, China sent 2.9 million CPV soldiers to assist the DPRK. More than 360,000 of these soldiers were killed or injured. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the signing of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.
