Widespread downpours began on Monday, pushing multiple rivers running through the province to high levels. On Wednesday night, a breach more than 40 meters wide occurred on the Beiru River embankment in Jiaxian County, Pingdingshan City. The gap was sealed the following night. On Thursday, a 10-meter-plus breach appeared on the Qingyi River in Xuchang's Yanling County. Later that night at around 23:00, a breach emerged on the east bank of the Jialu River in Chuanhui District, Zhoukou City. Fast currents expanded the gap to more than 110 meters. Sealing efforts at both remaining sites are well underway.
