Suharyanto, head of Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency, said about 2,000 residents had moved to nearby evacuation shelters. Exclusive footage filmed by China Central Television (CCTV) in Maumere showed patients receiving treatment in makeshift beds and tents outside a hospital, while emergency responders cleared rubble from a damaged waiting area at Laurentius Say Port. The China Earthquake Networks Center said the quake struck at 05:58 local time, at a depth of 20 km. It was felt across several towns on Flores Island, sending residents into the streets. Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported several aftershocks of magnitude 5 or higher, including one measuring 6.2. A tsunami warning issued after the main quake was later lifted. The Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar said three Chinese tourists suffered minor injuries while evacuating after the earthquake. One struck their head against a wall, while the other two suffered minor lower-back strains. All were in stable condition.
