According to data from the China Film Group Corporation, the country screened 58 imported films in the first half of 2026, generating a combined box office of 3.32 billion yuan (about 493.95 million U.S. dollars), up 629 million yuan (about 93.58 million U.S. dollars) year on year. The share of imported films in China's total box office rose from 9.22 percent in the same period last year to 19.15 percent. Since the beginning of the year, multiple imported films have been released in succession.
