The mudslide occurred on Wednesday morning in Nepal, resulting in three people dead and 265 missing at Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Xigaze City, a major land port connecting China and Nepal, as of 20:00, according to initial estimates. The Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Fire and Rescue Administration have dispatched 111 firefighters and rescue personnel from the China Search and Rescue team to the affected area. A chartered flight carrying the rescue team landed at an airport in Xigaze City at around 08:30 Thursday, following a two-hour journey from Chengdu Shuangliu Airport in neighboring Sichuan Province. The team is now en route to carry out rescue operations. In addition to personnel, the chartered flight transported essential equipment and supplies for detection, rescue, demolition, telecommunication, and support, and four search and rescue dogs. Furthermore, 150 rescue personnel from the China Aneng Chengdu Base, a state-owned engineering and rescue enterprise, departed from Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province, for Xigaze on Thursday morning. Of these, 105 took a plane to Lhasa, capital of Xizang, before transferring to buses, while 45 are traveling overland with equipment. In the aftermath of the mudslide, the State Grid Xizang Electric Power Company Limited is working swiftly to establish emergency power resources in Gyirong Town. As of 04:00 Thursday, 85 emergency repair personnel, seven power generating vehicles, two generators, and 19 sets of lighting equipment had arrived on-site. Additionally, the company has mobilized 30 more personnel, five power generating vehicles, 42 generators, and 18 sets of lighting equipment from surrounding areas. At a temporary shelter in Gyirong Town, 30 tents have been erected, each equipped with four beds, bedding, and pillows. Emergency power supply systems and lighting have been activated, and charging facilities are available for residents and rescuers. Additionally, at 20:00 Wednesday, the Western Theater Command Air Force deployed UAVs to conduct disaster assessments and support rescue operations. The mudslide knocked out five base stations in the vicinity, prompting the region's telecommunications administration under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to activate a Level I emergency response.
