        <headline xml:lang="en">Multi-pronged rescue efforts intensify following mudslide in China's Xizang</headline>
        <description role="CCTVPLUSdescrole:Storyline" xml:lang="en">
Rescue and relief operations pressed forward to search for survivors on Friday, in the wake of the devastating mudslide that struck the border port of Gyirong in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.

The disaster that occurred on the Nepalese side struck Gyirong Port in Gyirong County on Wednesday morning and severed the final miles of National Highway 216 connecting to Gyirong Port.

The rupture has heavily disrupted access, prompting the People's Armed Police and local transport authorities to rush heavy machinery to the scene to clear vital supply and rescue routes.

Emergency responders have faced severe topographical and climatic obstacles, including high-altitude chill, steep mountain valleys, and lingering geological hazards. In response, authorities launched multi-pronged land, water, and air operations.

On ground, several firefighting teams started to head to the worst-affected areas in the early morning on Friday.

A team trekked more than 20 kilometers across rugged terrain over eight hours and arrived at the hardest-hit Gyirong port area around 16:30 to carry out on-site search and rescue operations.

Another team of 30 members headed to the area with shovels, life-detection equipment, and search dogs.

"After we arrive at the core area, our primary task is to search for buried and missing persons. We plan to conduct a rapid, overall search of the affected zone and then carry out precise, segment by segment searches," said Yao Xueqin, deputy commander of the Lhasa detachment of the Sichuan Fire and Rescue Mobile Corps.

Concurrently, heavy-lift drones have been utilized to transport critical emergency personnel and supplies across impassable ravines, while marine teams used rescue boats to move along the river valleys towards the hardest-hit area.

Parallel to the search operations, authorities accelerated resettlement and relief efforts. Approximately 500 residents at risk in the immediate port vicinity were moved to four temporary shelters, while 555 stranded tourists were safely evacuated.

Substantial shipments of staple foods, drinking water, and other daily necessities have arrived in the town.

Meanwhile, military medical units set up stations at designated sites, including local guesthouses housing villagers, to provide health screenings, distribute medications, and treat minor ailments.

"Everything we eat and drink here is very good. As my child caught a slight cold, they also gave us some free medicine," said a local villager.

"The food and housing is guaranteed by the government, and this place is quite comfortable and clean," added another villager.
