China urges to prevent Japanese neo-militarism from wreaking havoc to region, world: spokesman
外交部「日本の『新型軍国主義』が地域を混乱させ世界を害することを断固阻止」
China calls on peace-loving countries around the world to prevent Japanese neo-militarism from wreaking havoc to the region and across the world, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.
Guo made the remarks at a regular press conference when answering a question about China's position on the "Defense of Japan 2026" released recently by Japan's Defense Ministry's which requests for a record-high budget for fiscal 2027.
"The purpose of designating Sept 3 as the Victory Day is to remember the immense suffering caused to the Chinese people and the people of the world by Japanese militarist aggression, to remind the world to remember history, and to resolutely safeguard the achievements of the World War II victory and the post-war international order," said Guo.
"For a long time, Japan's right-wing forces have attempted to reverse the verdict on its history of aggression and avoid honoring its postwar international agreements and obligations. It should be emphasized that a series of international documents, including the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation and the Instrument of Surrender legally established Japan's status as a defeated nation, explicitly stipulating its obligations such as eradicating militarism, disarming military industries, destroying military capabilities, and prohibiting rearmament. These postwar international agreements uphold historical truth and international justice, serve as institutional safeguards against the resurgence of militarism, and solidify the achievements of the world's anti-fascist victory," he said.
"We solemnly warn Japan's right-wing forces that the right path for Japan is to abide by its international obligations, thoroughly eradicate the vestiges of militarism, and adhere to peaceful development. China will work with peace-loving countries around the world to resolutely prevent Japan's neo-militarism from gaining momentum under the guise of national normalization, wreaking havoc to the region and across the world," he said.
日本防衛省は2026年版「防衛白書」を発表し、さらに「敵基地攻撃能力」の保有を追求すると表明した。防衛省がこのほど提出した2027年度予算の概算要求は過去最高を更新して総額8兆8900億円だった。
これについて、中国外交部の郭嘉昆報道官は3日の記者会見で、日本の「新型軍国主義」が地域を混乱させ、世界に害を及ぼすことを断固阻止すると述べた。
