In southern Sanaa, large crowds of demonstrators were seen holding flags up to the sky and chanting slogans to show their support for Palestine as the latest round of the Gaza conflict marked its third anniversary on Wednesday. The participants also expressed their support for the Houthis as the group have recently launched strikes against the Yemeni government forces supported by the Saudi-led Arab coalition and attacked Saudi Arabia. Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthi group seized the capital Sanaa and much of northern Yemen. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government, which is now based in the southern port city of Aden. The renewed fighting marked a major escalation after a UN-brokered truce in 2022 largely halted major hostilities. Analysts said that the situation in Yemen is becoming increasingly complex, as neither side has achieved a decisive military victory and the peaceful political process has failed to gain acceptance among the parties.
