"As far as China is concerned, we advocate that all countries, especially our neighbors, will maintain a healthy, positive, cooperative relationship among them. We hope such relationship will be conducive to the regional peace, stability and development, but not the other way around. In particular, against the background of improved regional situation, eased South China Sea tension, and with the fact that China and the Philippines have been restoring ties comprehensively and working together for active cooperation, we hope all related parties and other parties will contribute to such a momentum, rather than the contrary."

China hopes that all countries will maintain good relations for the sake of regional peace, stability and development, Lu Kang, a spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at a news briefing on Tuesday in Beijing.
Lu made the statement in response to questions about Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's visit to Japan on the same day.
