Chapeco of Brazil is going to pay homage with a farewell ceremony on Saturday to the football players and staff members of the Chapecoense club killed in Monday's tragic plane crash.
The ceremony will be held at the stadium hosting the Chapecoense club. Lots of Brazilians will attend the ceremony. Relatives of the fallen club members will spend some time alone with their beloved family members.
All preparation is done as of Friday including such details as ambulances standing by in case of overwhelming grief. The farewell ceremony was originally scheduled for Friday, but later postponed to Saturday.
"The remains will arrive in Chapeco between midnight and six on Saturday, so the farewell ceremony is expected to begin at eight. It takes a little bit longer than expected because we need to get the coffins ready. And that's the reason why there's been a delay," said Ivan Tozzo, vice-president of Chapecoense.
Three military aircraft will carry the remains, all identified already, to Chapeco for the farewell ceremony. Private planes will be used to ferry the remains of players and club staff to other places as required.
Chapecoense, a Brazilian first-division club, has lost 19 of its players and several staff members when a chartered flight carrying the team crashed into a hillside near Medellin, Colombia, on Monday. A total of 71 people were killed, including reporters bound to cover the match of the South American Cup.
