"We have noticed such reports, which are groundless. Given the continuously sluggish world economy and inadequate global demand, the weakness of the world trade growth and the decline of foreign trade are not particular to certain countries. They are global issues."

China's Ministry of Commerce spokesman Shen Danyang responded to recent reports that China's trade restrictions have made a comeback at a press conference held in Beijing on Friday.
Statistics show that South Korea's export to China has continued to decline in 16 months, which South Korea's Aju Business Daily attributes to the transition of China's economic growth mode from one of export to one of domestic demand, support to its domestic IT businesses and the rise of trade restriction on foreign businesses.
Shen rejected such reports and said sluggish export is a global issue.
"We have noticed such reports, which are groundless. Given the continuously sluggish world economy and inadequate global demand, the weakness of the world trade growth and the decline of foreign trade are not particular to certain countries. They are global issues," said Shen.
Shen pointed out that South Korea's foreign trade with other countries and regions have all kept declining.
Shen reiterated that China has constantly upheld world trade rules and stood firm against all kinds of trade protectionism, adding the country will work with the international community to pull the world trade out of slump.
