China resolutely opposes any form of official exchanges, including military exchanges, between the U.S. and Taiwan, said a spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry on Friday.
Geng Shuang, the spokesman, said this in response to media reports that part of the U.S. defense spending budget for 2017 still under Congress review touches military exchanges between the U.S. and Taiwan.
"We urge the U.S. side to strictly adhere to the one-China policy, abide by the principles of the three Sino-U.S. joint communiques, be cautious in handling the Taiwan issue and never turn back the wheel of history, lest the overall situation of China-U.S. relations be impaired," said Geng.
