"The national economy achieved moderate yet steady and sound development, getting off to a good start for the 13th Five-year Plan. According to our preliminary account, the gross domestic product in the year was 74.41 trillion yuan, up 6.7 percent from the previous year at comparable prices. Quarter-wise, the growth rates in the four quarters were 6.7 percent, 6.7 percent, 6.7 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively.”

China's economy grew 6.7 percent in 2016 from a year ago, falling within the growth target range of between 6.5 percent and 7 percent, said Ning Jizhe, head of the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in Beijing on Friday.

The 13th Five-year Plan is a blueprint for China's development for the five years starting 2016.
China's economy grew 6.9 percent year on year in 2015, already the slowest annual rise in a quarter of a century.
