3. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Hua Chunying, spokeswoman, China's Foreign Ministry:
"Military exchanges and cooperation is an important aspect of China-Philippines relations. We know that our relations have realized a comprehensive turn-around and are presenting a good momentum of development. We would like to work together with the Philippines to enhance exchanges and cooperation in relevant fields. As to China’s warships' visit to the Philippines, to my knowledge, relevant departments from both sides are communicating with each other."

China and the Philippines are discussing the possible visit to the Philippines by Chinese warships, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday.
The ministry's spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, said this at a regular news briefing in response to a query of whether China will accept Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's invitation on Thursday to Chinese warships for a visit to the country.
Hua said China is willing to conduct military cooperation and exchanges with the Philippines, especially when the relations between the two countries are improving.
