China, Nepal to firmly promote friendly cooperation

Storyline


China and Nepal will firmly promote friendship and cooperation, said Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal during their meeting in Beijing on Monday.

President Xi met with Dahal at the Great Hall of the People. The latter is on a five day visit to China.

President Xi said the two countries have maintained close coordination at various levels including political parties and governments; and have steadily pushed forward connectivity, post-disaster reconstruction, infrastructure, and people to people exchanges. Xi said he is glad to see these progress, and the two countries should work together to create a new momentum of friendship and cooperation.

Xi also said the two countries should take the opportunity of the Belt and Road Initiative to steadily improve connectivity, free trade arrangement, agriculture, energy, and sustainable trade balance. The two countries should also deepen cooperation in tourism, culture, youth and mass media.

Dahal said Nepal appreciates China's strong support for Nepal's post-disaster reconstruction. Nepal sticks to One China policy and will never allow any forces to carry out anti-China activities in its territory. He said Nepal supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and will actively expand cooperation with China on trade and investment, transportation, infrastructure, tourism and aviation.
