Storyline

A special delegation of foreign envoys paid a visit to the Wenchang Space Launch Center in south China's Hainan Province on Thursday to witness the launch of the Tianzhou-1 cargo spacecraft.

Ambassadors from Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Malaysia, South Africa, and Kazakhstan to the United Nations Vienna Office visited the command center of the launch site and the vertical assembly plant of the Long March-7 rocket at the invitation of China's Foreign Ministry and its Manned Space Agency.

Staff members introduced the Tianzhou mission and China's manned space project to the delegation, while the ambassadors expressed their willingness to have more cooperation with China in space exploration, and even sending their own astronauts into China's future space lab.

"It would be wonderful if we could do some cooperation. Maybe not that soon, maybe later. But it is something we cannot rule out. It is something that I look forward to, we all look forward to, cooperation in the field of aerospace, as my colleagues and I are very impressed by all of the advances made by China technologically. And we're looking forward for this evening's launch," said Ayesha Riyaz, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the International Organizations in Vienna.

"Your development is quite exciting, and I do believe that within the international organizations or within the international space programs. We are launching our own satellites. The future is quite bright. We can do jointly some scientific research in space," said Kairat Sarybay, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the International Organizations in Vienna.
