China and New Zealand launched the first round of negotiations in Beijing on Tuesday to upgrade their Free Trade Agreement, which was initially inked in 2008.
Chinese commerce ministry officials met with New Zealand delegates, voicing the determination to create more business opportunities and bring the bilateral trade to a higher level.
This round of negotiations will last until April 27, aiming to expand the areas already covered by the agreement, including technical barriers to trade, customs procedures, cooperation and trade facilitation.
The two countries will raise other issues and address newer areas such as competition policy and e-commerce.
