"The last connector of the immersed tunnel of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge was built by Zhenhua Group in Shanghai, and it has been transported to the construction site, ready for installation. Currently, all the workers for the subsequent work have entered into the site by four groups."

The last group of welding workers arrived in Zhuhai City of south China's Guangdong Province on Friday to help complete the last linkage of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge.

This is the fourth group of workers dispatched for the last linkage, including 109 workers from Nantong City of east China's Jiangsu Province.

"The last connector of the immersed tunnel of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge was built by the Zhenhua Group in Shanghai, and it has been transported to the construction site, ready for installation. Currently, all the workers for the subsequent work have entered into the site by four groups," said Wu Fengliang, deputy general manager of the island tunnel project of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge.

The installation of the last connector and its later weld work are the last risky and the most difficult processes of the project. To prepare for this, the workers from the Zhenhua Group had been carrying out a 60-day modeling drills in Nantong.

"We tried to find out all the problems during the drill so as to ensure that all the sections of the future weld could be smooth and successful," said Chen Liang, assistant executive director of the last linkage project of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge.

After the connector is put into place, the weld workers, in four groups, would work on it without any break to make sure that it could be completed on time.
