Iraqi Federal Police (IFP), one of the main fighting forces at the west bank of the Tigris River, is getting closer and closer to Mosul’s old city, said Khalaf al-Badran, commander of the police force.

"Now our troops have reached nearby Mosul's old city from the northern side, and besieged the area. Now we have to reoccupy the Al-Zinjili area in front of us and then it will pave a way for entering the old city," said Badran.

According to data released by the Iraqi Ministry of National Defense, coalition troops and the Iraqi police have retaken the Al-Rafaee Area while they were proceeding towards Mosul. Meanwhile, Iraqi air forces struck the extremists ammunition depot and killed a number of extremists.

However, the proceeding speed of the coalition troops along the banks of the Tigris River has been very slow since the land-regaining war launched in February this year. Faced with a large number of trapped residents and complicated city structures, Badran pointed out that the priority is to rescue the trapped people and thus, they slowed down to maintain the safety of local people.

"To protect the people in the old city area, we proceeded slowly and the weapon we used was also limited, because we were afraid of injuring innocent civilians. In addition, our commander also ordered that we should protect the civilians and infrastructure in the area. After months of combat, the troops regained most of the west bank area of the Tigris River, but there still remains some huge obstacles to regain Mosul’s old city area. Badran noted that they would completely besiege the area and launch a general attack on enemies at the right time.

La Police fédérale irakienne (PFI), l'une des principales troupes combattantes sur la rive ouest du Tigris, se rapproche de plus en plus de la vieille ville de Mossoul, a déclaré Khalaf al-Badran, commandant de la PFI.

"Actuellement, nos troupes ont atteint la vieille ville de Mossoul du côté nord, et ont assiégé la région. Maintenant, nous devons reprendre la zone Al-Zinjili qui est devant nous et cela ouvrira la voie pour entrer dans la vieille ville", a déclaré Khalaf al-Badran.

Selon les données publiées par le ministère irakien de la Défense nationale, les troupes de la coalition, y compris l'IFP, ont repris la zone Al-Rafaee lorsqu'elles se dirigeaient vers Mossoul. Pendant ce temps, les forces aériennes irakiennes ont frappé le dépôt de munitions des extrémistes et ont tué plusieurs d’entre eux.

Cependant, la progression des troupes de la coalition sur les rives du Tigris s’est avérée très lente depuis que la guerre pour reprendre les terres a été lancée en février cette année. En effet, face à un grand nombre d'habitants piégés et à des structures urbaines compliquées, Khalaf al-Badran a souligné que le sauvetage des civils piégés les a fortement ralentis.

Après des mois de combat, les troupes ont repris la plus grande partie de la rive ouest de la rivière Tigris, mais il reste encore d'énormes obstacles pour regagner Mossoul. Khalaf al-Badran a noté que par la suite, ils assiégeront complètement la région et lanceront une attaque générale contre les ennemis.

"En ce qui concerne les prochaines étapes, nous déterminerons un moment précis pour attaquer. Toutes nos troupes lanceront des attaques contre les ennemis dans la vieille ville depuis des directions différentes", a poursuivi Khalaf al-Badran.

قال العميد خلف البدران، قائد فرقة مغاوير النخبة – قيادة الشرطة الاتحادية العراقية ان الشرطة الاتحادية التي تعدّ احدى القوات المقاتلة الرئيسية فى الضفة الغربية لنهر دجلة تقترب من مدينة الموصل القديمة.

وقال البدران: "تقدمت قطاعاتنا من الشمال ووصلت إلى مناطق محاذية إلى الموصل القديمة بعد أن فرضنا طوقا على مدينة الموصل القديمة، وعلينا استعادة السيطرة على منطقة الزنجيلي تمهيدا لدخول منطقة الموصل القديمة."

وفقا للبيانات الصادرة عن وزارة الدفاع العراقية، قد حررت قوات التحالف والشرطة العراقية منطقة الرفاعي في حين تقدمت إلى مدينة الموصل القديمة مع تكبيد المتطرفين خسائر بالأرواح والمعدات.

غير أن قوات التحالف تقدمت ببطء منذ اندلاع معركة تحرير الموصل الغربية في فبراير هذا العام. وفي مواجهة عدد كبير من السكان المحاصرين وهياكل المدينة المعقدة، أشار البدران إلى أن الأولوية هي إنقاذ المحاصرين، وبالتالي التقدم ببطء للحفاظ على سلامة السكان المحليين.

وأضاف البدران: "وخوفا على أرواح المدنيين، فتقدمنا ببطء ونستخدم أسلحة محدودة جدا خوفا من إصابتهم، وكذلك هناك توجيه من السيد القائد العام للقوات المسلحة عن الحفاظ على المدنيين والبنية التحتية. وهي أسبابنا لتقدمنا بحذر وببطء وبخطوات مدروسة."

وبعد أشهر من المعارك، استعادت القوات معظم مناطق الضفة الغربية لنهر دجلة لكن لا تزال هناك بعض العقبات الكبيرة أمام استعادة مدينة الموصل القديمة. وأشار البدران إلى أنهم سيطوقون المنطقة بشكل كامل ويشنّون هجوما عاما على الأعداء في الوقت المناسب.

وتابع البدران: "أما بالنسبة للخطة القادمة، فسنعدّ توقيتا معينا، حيث دخلت كل القطاعات من المحاور المتعددة إلى المدينة القديمة."

Отряды Федеральной полиции Ирака - одной из главных боевых сил на западном берегу реки Тигр - подходят все ближе и ближе к старой части Мосула. Заявление об этом сделал командующий Халаф Бадран в ходе интервью Центральному телевидению Китая в Ираке.

"Выдвинувшись с северной стороны, наши войска прибыли в окрестности старой части города (Мосул). Сейчас мы уже окружили ее, и перед нами остался только лишь район Эр-Зинджили. Его освобождение откроет нам путь в старую часть города", – отметил Бадран.

Согласно опубликованному Министерством обороны Ирака сообщению, коалиционные войска продолжают продвижение к старой части Мосула и уже отвоевали район Эр-Рифаи. Между тем, иракские военно-воздушные силы совершили авиаудары по складам боеприпасов экстремистов и уничтожили множество боевиков.

Бадран отметил большое число захваченных мирных жителей и сложность городских кварталов. Он также сообщил, что первоочередной задачей является освобождение гражданских и обеспечение их безопасности.

"Чтобы защитить жителей города мы продвигались медленно и с большими ограничениями использовали оружие, опасаясь случайно ранить мирное население. Кроме того, приказ командир был обеспечить безопасность местных жителей и инфраструктурных объектов в городе. Несмотря на то, что большая часть территории западного берега реки Тигр была освобождена в ходе военных действий последних месяцев, операция в старой части Мосула столкнулась со значительными препятствиями. Однако Федеральная полиция Ирака вовсе не намерена отступать.

"Что же касается наших дальнейших планов действия, то мы уже наметили (для них) определенное время. Наши войска совершат совместное наступление на старый город с разных направлений", – добавил Бадран.
