China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will work out a 2030 agenda to enhance the China-ASEAN cooperation, according to China's Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin at the 23rd ASEAN-China Senior Officials' Consultation in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province on Friday.

The consultation was co-hosted by Liu Zhenmin and Chee Wee Kiong, permanent secretary for Foreign Affairs of Singapore and coordinator of China-ASEAN relations.

The event reached consensus on deepening China-ASEAN strategic partnership and promoting pragmatic cooperation. It also looked back on the China-ASEAN relationship development and the positive progress made by China and ASEAN.

"After the approval of the foreign ministers meeting and the heads of state, we will initiate drafting the 2030 agenda and try to release it in 2018 when China and ASEAN celebrate the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership. The document will make brand new, higher and more comprehensive planning on China-ASEAN cooperation," said Liu.

The participants at the consultation also expressed their willingness in enhancing connectivity.

"Recognizing that enhancing regional connectivity will help to advance the ASEAN-China strategic partnership, so we discussed the need to explore synergy between the initiatives like the China's Belt and Road and ASEAN's economic integration and master plan for ASEAN connectivity," said Chee.
