Road and rail traffic flows began to surge across China as the Dragon Boat Festival holiday started on Sunday.
The Beijing Traffic Administration expects the highway travel peak to appear from 08:00 to 21:00 on the first day of the three-day holiday, especially in the outbound flow.
Traffic congestions are expected to appear around hot tourist destinations like Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou.
But, in general, the situation has been good, with vehicles slowing down and the traffic flowing smoothly, without serious congestions happening at highway exits.
Rail traffic increased, too.
Northeast China's Shenyang Railway Bureau added 17 pairs of extra trains to beat the sudden increase of rail passengers. The bureau expects to haul about 3.5 million passengers during the holiday.
