Storyline


The second China-India Think-Tank Forum opened Saturday in China's capital city Beijing.

Experts said at the forum that China and India promote communication and exchanges between them so as to cope with the rapidly changing world situation as well as to face regional and global challenges together.

Huang Qunhui, head of the Institute of Industrial Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said at the forum that China and India are crucial to the sustainable growth of the global economy, and that the two countries can also learn from each other.

"Both China and India are large developing countries, they are both emerging countries. So the two countries have a lot of potential for cooperation, and they can learn about experiences of development from each other," said Huang.

Nalin Surie, former Indian ambassador to China, who attended the opening ceremony of the forum, also said there are many opportunities for Sino-Indian cooperation.

"We have a very broad agenda. We will arrange some strategic cooperation to strategic dialogue to green and sustainable development, to science and technology, to innovation, to how we can improve our economic and investment partnership. So we are hoping that at the end of the two days we will come up with fresh ideas," said Surie.

This year's forum, with a theme of "China-India Strategic Cooperation and Developmental Partnership", attracted nearly a hundred Chinese and Indian think-tank experts and scholars to discuss various topics including bilateral trade, investment and cultural exchange.
