A Russian drug dealer listed on the Interpol red notice was officially transferred to Russian police in south China's Guangdong Province on Monday.
Chinese representative Deng Ming, deputy director of the Narcotics Control Bureau under the Ministry of Public Security, and Russian representative Vladimir Solovyov, chief representative to China from Russian Federation Ministry of Internal Affairs, signed memorandum for handing over the dealer at the Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou City.
Then Chinese and Russian police officers exchanged handcuffs on the dealer and completed the transfer.
The dealer named Fokin escaped to China after being wanted in 2010 by Russian police for drug trading. In 2012, he was put on the red notice list of the Interpol.
Responding to Russian Federation Ministry of Internal Affairs, China's narcotics control authorities caught Fokin in a residence in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou City on June 8 after nearly a six-month chase.
Through joint efforts with America and Russia, as well as countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, in cracking down cross-border drug trafficking, China has continuously enhanced exchanges in drug control information and cooperation in law enforcement.
In five years since 2012, a total of 16,000 drug trade cases were cracked,with 19,000 suspects detained and 22.7 tons of drugs confiscated.
China has signed 24 governmental drug control cooperation documents with 20 nations or alliances of nations, and 14 departmental drug control cooperation documents with departments from 12 countries.
In addition, Chinese police also transferred two other drug dealers to South Korean and Japanese police at Qingdao Liuting International Airport, east China's Shandong Province, the same day.
