A man hit the gas pedal by mistake instead of the brake when arriving at a hospital, bumping his car into the hospital wall and injuring a passerby in Nanling County of east China's Anhui Province last Monday.
Surveillance video showed that at around 11:00, a man prepared to park in front of the hospital, but he lost control and hit the wall, with both the wall and the car severely damaged. A passerby who rode an electric motorcycle was hit by the car and luckily suffered no serious injury.
"The car suffered serious damage, especially its front. Two airbags in the front seats were opened. Fortunately, his mother who sat in the back was not hurt," said Zu Yurong, police officer at the traffic and patrol police group of the Nanling County Police Station.
Investigation showed that the 60-year-old driver surnamed Tang took his mother to see a doctor that day. The accident was triggered by multiple factors, leading to the driver's irritable mood and misoperation.
