Typhoon Roke brought heavy rains and strong wind to south China's Guangdong Province on Sunday, seriously affecting local people's lives.
In Shenzhen City, scenic spots along coastline were all closed, tourists evacuated, boats returning to port.
"We persuaded all fishing boats, people living on boats, tourists on beaches and scenic spots to return to port," said Jia Qing, a local government official.
Four tourists camping outdoors were trapped by surging waves in eastern part of Shenzhen City. They were successfully saved by firefighters.
The strong wind also toppled some 80 trees, causing traffic congestion in city.
"The rainstorm will abate tomorrow drastically. It will be cloudy, or have some showers. From Tuesday to Saturday, Shenzhen will get hotter and hotter," said Wei Xiaoling, chief weather forecaster of Shenzhen Meteorological Service.
Typhoon Roke is the seventh typhoon of the year.
