Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Friday called on advancing family-like cooperation with Thailand under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Wang made the remarks while meeting with his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai in Thailand's capital Bangkok.
Hailing the two countries sharing family-like close relationship, Wang said China will stick to the friendly policy towards Thailand and facilitate sustained and stable growth of bilateral ties.
Wang said jointly carrying out the initiative will create huge opportunities for bilateral cooperation. In the next phase, the two countries should promote the joint railway project.
China would like to participate in the construction of Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor and help upgrade Thailand's economic structure so as to open up a new platform under the initiative, he said.
Wang also called on Thailand to strengthen cooperation in digital economy and innovation sectors and expand cooperation fields such as e-commerce, aeronautics and astronautics.
Noting China enjoys close ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) , the Chinese foreign minister hoped the two sides to link up the initiative with ASEAN's development strategies, conclude the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations at an early date, and safeguard peace in the South China Sea.
Hailing China as its good friend and comprehensive strategic partner, Don said Thailand is willing to maintain exchanges at various levels with China and advance people-to-people exchanges.
Don hoped the initiative to link up with ASEAN's development strategies, pushing the building of China-Thai railway project.
He also welcomed Chinese enterprises to take part in the construction of Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor.
Thailand supports the two countries to make a joint action plan on strategic cooperation (2017-2022), Don said.
He said Thailand support the China-ASEAN cooperation, speeding up the RCEP negotiations and peace and stability in the South China Sea.
