A groups of 13 wild Asian elephants were found stealing from a small village in southwest China's Yunnan Province recently.
Six of them were seen eating from banana trees in a villager's yard and then stealing corn from farms that would soon be harvested in Manlaojie Village of Pu'er City on Sunday.
Villagers believed their frequent visit to the village in recent days could be explained by the fact that it is a ripe season for corn, one of the large animals’ favorite foods.
However, their surprise visit has been a great security concern for local villagers.
The local forestry bureau has sent experts to the village to spread knowledge about the wild animals. Meanwhile, they set up six surveillance cameras to track the group so that they can take timely precautions.
