Storyline


Heavy downpours triggered flash floods in various parts of China on Saturday, destroying many homes and bridges.

Raging torrent shattered a village house in Yueyang City of central China's Hunan Province as heavy rain pounded the region on Saturday. The flood also breached a dam in the city, forcing the local authorities to have an emergency evacuation of about 700 residents living in the downstream.

Heavy rainfall caused a flash flood in Rongshui Miao Autonomous County of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, washing away trees and vehicles. Homes and stores were seen submerged in the thigh-deep water.

In east China provinces of Anhui and Jiangxi, heavy flood have submerged roads and bridges, stranding pedestrians and vehicles. Road maintenance crew were using high-power pumps to drain the rain water from streets.

The downpour in Jiangxi also flooded some factories in an industrial park, causing heavy losses.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the floods so far.
