"We know from previous court pronouncements that a pre-trial is scheduled for Aug. 28 with the court trial set for Sept. 12. But based on our knowledge of the U.S. judicial procedures, we believe there is no chance for the beginning of court trial on Sept. 12."

The parents of the missing visiting Chinese scholar to the United States on Tuesday published their petition to the U.S. president for assistance in the ongoing search for their daughter, Zhang Yingying.
Zhang went missing on June 9 in the U.S. state of Illinois where she was studying at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
"We believe local law enforcement, the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation are trying their best in searching for Yingying. But as time goes by fast, the chance of finding Yingying alive reduces. We sincerely hope you would direct all available federal law enforcement and investigation resources to help us find our daughter," Zhang Ronggao read out the petition at a press conference.
"Our ultimate goal is undoubtedly to find Yingying as quickly as possible and with as much manpower as available," said Yingying's boyfriend Hou Xiaolin when pinpointing the petitioned goal.
The FBI has so far detained Brendt Christensen. Yingying was last seen traveling with his sedan car. The man is charged with kidnapping Yingying. But Brendt Christensen has pleaded not guilty.

This is the latest about evidence collection," said Wang Zhidong, a Chinese-American lawyer assisting the Zhang family in the case.
But local legal experts doubt that the trial will go along as scheduled.
"We know from previous court pronouncements that a pre-trial is scheduled for Aug. 28 with the court trial set for Sept. 12. But based on our knowledge of the U.S. judicial procedures, we believe there is no chance for the beginning of court trial on Sept. 12," explained the lawyer.
