"Despite that the heat wave in July brought logistics industry into its usual off-season, the industry has witnessed an uptrend against the stabilized backdrop in general. Growth of demands upped by almost one percentage point year on year. Logistics of consumer goods have kept their above 30-percent growths at the same time."

Storyline

Though China's logistics demand stabilized with a slightly slower growth, its total logistics turnover increased by seven percent in the first seven months of this year, according to the latest figures released Tuesday by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

Between January and July, total logistics turned over 139.9 trillion yuan for a seven-percent growth year on year. The growth rate is 0.9 percentage points higher than year on year.

The figures also show that the transformation is picking up speed with the dynamics of new demands taking place of existing ones. While demands for energy-consuming sectors like mining continue their lack of dynamics, demands for industrial goods and high-tech and manufactured goods keep witnessing double digit growths.

"Despite that the heat wave in July brought logistics industry into its usual off-season, the industry has witnessed an uptrend against the stabilized backdrop in general. Growth of demands upped by almost one percentage point year on year. Logistics of consumer goods have kept their above 30-percent growths at the same time," said He Hui, deputy head of the China Logistics Information Center.

Topping the logistics of goods imported from January to July are crude oil and iron ore. The former grew by 13.6 percent year on year to total 247 million tons. The latter grew by 7.5 percent to total 625 million tons.
