Storyline


Hato, the 13th typhoon this year, made landfall at noon Wednesday in Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province.

The typhoon landed at around 12:50 in the coastal area of Jinwan District of Zhuhai City with gales of 45 meters per second at its eye. It brought about huge tides that flooded coastal highway and the gale has caused many trees flattened.

The National Meteorological Center (NMC) of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has issued this year's first red alert for typhoon, which is the highest level of China's four-tier typhoon warning system, at 06:00 on Wednesday morning, together with a second-highest level alert for rainstorm.

It is the strongest typhoon landed in China so far this year, according to experts from the CMA.
