Storyline

Powerful typhoon Hato, a maximum category 10 storm, wreaked havoc in the southern coast of south China's Guangdong Province after it made landfall in the province's Zhuhai City on Wednesday.

Hato, the 13th typhoon this year, brought hurricane-force winds and downpours to the region it swept across.

Videos recorded in the worst-hit cities including Zhuhai and Zhongshan show pedestrians being blown off their feet, public facilities such as mail box, trash can being blown around like toys and many trees along the main roads being toppled in the typhoon.

One footage captured the horrible moment that the storm-force wind blew over a box truck onto a man who tried to hold it in wind.

Another footage shows a huge wave even breaking through the glass door of a building nearby the beach.

Guangdong authorities said that Hato is expected to slam into neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from southwest on Wednesday night. The Guangxi Meteorological Bureau has commenced class-three emergency responding measures, and issued a blue warning against typhoon.
