The press center for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opened on Wednesday to journalists from home and abroad to cover the high-profile event at the Media Center Hotel in Beijing.
Journalists, Chinese and international, are welcome to apply for press cards and interviews at the press center.
The center has also launched its official website and social media account on WeChat. The site, http://19th.cpcnews.cn, and the account, cpcnews19th, provide journalists and the public with information of the congress agenda, latest news, announcements and background information on past national congresses, in Chinese and English.
The press center has a press conference hall, Internet service room, new media room and others for reporters to have interviews and satellite transmission, and find background information. The broadcast and TV signal service room will provide live videos for the opening and closing of the 19th CPC National Congress, the press conference of the new Politburo Standing Committee members, as well as news briefings.
The press center will, for the first time, set up a passage for CPC members to receive interviews with the media at the Great Hall of the People.

Over 27,00 journalists from home and abroad signed up to cover the 18th CPC National Congress that opened on Nov. 8, 2012. More reporters were seen to register for this year's event.
