In recent years, China's technology and manufacturing advancements have been impressive. From smart factories to tech innovations such as mobile payment, China continues to be at the forefront.

Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei spoke about China's technology and industrial achievements during the group interview on the sidelines of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Miao said that between 2013 to 2016, China's value-added industrial output grew by nearly seven percent, ranking top among major economies in the world.

Furthermore, China's production volume of 220 major industrial goods out of 500 ranked first in the world. These statistics consolidate China's position in the manufacturing world.

"Our country's industry and telecommunications have been operating steadily, with stability and improvement. China remains the world's largest manufacturing power and the largest network power in the world, as the total scale continues to increase," said Miao.

China's information communication industry experienced robust growth in recent years. The average Internet usage of each cellphone user increased from 800 megabytes per month to 1.8 Gigabytes.

"Our consumers of 4G network have increased from zero to 930 million, making up more than 67% of entire cellphone users in China. "The network development and cost reduction measures have remarkably helped the development of bike-sharing and modern payment method such as mobile payments. We will continue to carry out General Secretary Xi Jinping's idea of people-centered development, take further measures to follow the people's renewed expectations and adapt to the new tide of digital economy.
