Firefighters and soldiers were dispatched Saturday morning to the epicenter of a 6.9-magnitude earthquake that jolted Nyingchi City, in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
The Nyingchi City's fire department sent four fire engines and 20 firefighters to the areas most effected by the quake, which struck at 06:34 on Saturday.
A team of firefighters headed to Jiala Village, the epicenter of the earthquake, by helicopter, as the roads leading to the village were blocked by landslides.
Concurrently, a detachment of soldiers marched into the village to survey the area and perform rescue operations.
The damage inflicted by the earthquake was largely minor, with just some cracks visible on the nine residential buildings in the village. Out of its population of 49, there were no casualties reported.
Soldiers and firefighters set up tents for villagers who needed assistance.
