Panamanian officials all hailed the on-going state visit by their president Juan Carlos Varela as having opened up a new era for the prosperous development of the two countries.
Varela started his seven-day state visit on Thursday. He witnessed the opening of Panama's new embassy in Beijing. The president then on Friday held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and the two leaders witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements on the Belt and Road Initiative, trade, investment, maritime transportation, railway, human resources, industrial parks, agriculture, quality inspection, civil aviation and tourism.

Varela led a delegation of more than 100 people including ministers, other senior officials and representatives from a large number of enterprises in the hope of carrying out all-round cooperation with China.
