Storyline

The restoration process of two precious cultural relics in east China's Zhejiang Province has been beautifully captured and cataloged by a talented young man.

The two cultural relics are two of the three roofed bridges, also known as gallery bridges, ruined by the super typhoon Meranti in September, 2016. Built during the Qing Dynasty (1636-1911), all three bridges have been under state protection for their historical, cultural and architectural significance.

With restoration of the three bridges starting on March 25, Zheng Hao, a amateur photographer of Xiaocun Town in Taishun County, began his shooting of the restoration process of the Wenxing Bridge and Wenzhong Bridge in the town.

Till completion of the restoration in October, Zheng had shot nearly 15,000 photos that were later on turned into a three-minute fast-motion video.

"The footage is not long. With materials about two bridges combined, it is just a little over three minutes, but 14,793 photos were shot. I need to shoot 230 photos every day to ensure I have 7-8 seconds of materials every day," said Zheng.

Despite the scorching sun and troublesome technical details, Zheng said he persisted till the end.

"As not anyone can come and see the restoration process, I record it and I can let more people know about the bridge, about how the bridge come back to us step by step," said Zheng.

A ceremony to mark the end of the restoration for Wenxing Bridge was held on Saturday, indicating restoration of all three ruined roof bridges was finished.

During the restoration, the local people spared no effort to help. They helped collect and gather the wooden pieces of the bridges and donated for restoration.
