Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, on Friday, pledging to strengthen political trust and cooperate in a number of key areas, such as trade and investment.
The chancellor was in Beijing attending the ninth China-Britain Economic and Financial Dialogue.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between China and Britain, Li said, noting that bilateral ties would develop on the basis of mutual respect and equality.
Li said Britain was a highly open economy, and China will advance its opening up.
China is willing to enhance political mutual trust with Britain and strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, third-party market and other key areas, Li said.
He called on the two sides to make use of the City of London's advantage as a global financial center to enhance financial cooperation.
The Chinese premier said he was expecting this year's dialogue to promote and bring more mutually beneficial outcomes.
For his part, Hammond said both countries were facing new opportunities of cooperation.
He said Britain was willing to work with China to cooperate more on trade, investment, finance and nuclear energy, to create a "golden era" in bilateral ties.
