A group of dolphins has been frequently found playing off the coast of south China city of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, according to local reports.
The local maritime law enforcement officers reported on December 12 a stenella attenuata playing in the sea. On the next day afternoon, they took a footage of dolphins playing in the same area. This was the third time to spot dolphins in the place since April and September.
"Suddenly I saw a dolphin springing out from the sea. I asked the captain to slow down the boat, or else it would frighten the dolphin," said Yang Zhe, deputy head of the Dapeng Bay coast guard law enforcement brigade, Yantian Maritime Affairs Bureau.
On December 13, a dozen dolphins were spotted in the northern sea area of the Neilingding. The frequent appearance of dolphins shows that the sea water quality has been improved.
"There has no pollution incident in the sea so far this year and the maritime environment has been improved significantly. This is evidenced by the three-time appearance of dolphins," said Yang.
Shenzhen is one of the busiest ports in the world. The related departments of the port have carried out all-weather patrol in recent years to crack down the illegal acts that may pollute the sea water, including stealing sea sand and waste dumping. The port has used electricity instead of oil to drive the port facilities.
