Storyline

More than 300,000 people took to the streets of Chicago Saturday to encourage women to participate in politics and express their dissatisfaction with the U.S. President Donald Trump on the one-year anniversary of his inauguration.

A year after the first Women's March was held protesting against Trump's inauguration, demonstrators this time put up a similar show. In Chicago alone, people gathered in the downtown Grant Park to call for women's rights and encourage women to actively participate in the mid-term election this November and run for office. More than 10 local celebrities delivered speeches at the gathering.

While there were banner-held women protesters who wanted to help bring a difference in the United States.

"I am here because I am trying to make a difference; to help and make a difference in the United States, because of women's rights. I mean that's definitely what it's all about. And it is so critically important to the United States, to the nation, for women's rights and they've been abused for so long and it's time to just step up," said Jeniffer, one of the women protesters.

Protesters also came out of their houses to show dissatisfaction towards Trump administration and the president's poor performance in the past one year.

"Trump has been absolutely horrible, horrible, horrible for women. Ask any woman, she will tell you. We are very unsatisfied, in fact, we wouldn't call it work at all and we wish he was not in office at all," said Dora, another protester in the rally.

To ensure safety, some road sections were barricaded by local police; some roads were even blocked with snowplows, leading to traffic congestions in the downtown area.

With hundreds of other marches and events being held in other cities over the weekend, this year's Women's March is the second of its kind.
