Smart appliances have become increasingly popular in families in east China's Zhejiang Province, a result of China's ongoing consumption update driven by the Internet.

In Shifan Village of Wenzhou City's Yongjia County, Ye Lina bought an automatic cooker during the Spring Festival holiday. With the smart home products which she already has, including an automatic dishwasher, a robot vacuum, a smart home theater system, she and her family members have been freed from daily chores.

Speaking of those smart home products, Zhang Xiuhu, a family member of Ye, said the products have provided a lot of convenience for his life.

"It's really convenient. No matter which one, these smart products all freed us from labor, providing convenience for our lives," Zhang said.

According to a report released by Alibaba, China's e-commerce giant, the residents in Zhejiang spent the most money on buying smart home products during the past Spring Festival holiday, compared with other provinces in China.
Yao Guoshan, director of the Division of Market Regulation at the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, said the consumption in the province has benefited a lot from the development of e-commerce.

"The consumption in urban and rural areas has been more balanced. The integration of online and off-line shopping has facilitated the consumption in Zhejiang, embodying the upgrades of both the quantity and quality of the consumption," Yao said.
