2. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Dai Jishuang, chairman of Shenyang Blower Works Group (ending with shot 3):
"In recent years, we have developed a batch of high-end equipment of the international advanced level, such as compressors for 10-million-ton oil refining plants, compressors for 1-million-ton ethylene plants, storage devices and pipelines for natural gas, as well as 100,000 Nm3/h air separation units. We had to import all these equipment in the past, but now we can produce 70 to 80 percent of these devices."

4. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Dai Jishuang, Chairman of Shenyang Blower Works Group:
"The first point is reform. We need to further deepen reforms and establish innovation systems and mechanisms that can provide market competitiveness and motivation. The second point is innovation. Only by keeping innovating can we master core technologies and develop cutting-edge products. The third is transformation. We need to step up efforts to switch to high-end equipment, intelligent manufacturing and service-oriented manufacturing so as to reach the top end of the our industrial chain. The fourth is talents. We need to establish a platform that can help high-end talents to develop and innovate."
5. NPC deputies, reporters
6. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Liang Wengen, Founding Chairman of Sany Group (partially overlaid with shot 7):
"Over the five years following the 18th Communist Party of China National Congress, our construction machinery industry has seen fastest progress in technology. Our products can favorably compare with those produced in Europe, the United States and Japan. Construction machinery from China played important roles in the collapsed mine rescue in Chile, the nuclear disaster rescue in Japan and various major construction projects along the Belt and Road in the world. We are facing two major strategic opportunities: the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation and the wave of new technologies, or the so-called fourth Industrial Revolution. If we can seize the two extraordinary opportunities and complete our transition to digital and intelligent manufacturing in a faster and better manner, China will surely transform itself from a big power to a strong power in manufacturing."

Dai Jishuang, chairman of the state-owned Shenyang Blower Works Group, said his company has achieved great development thanks to its long-term efforts in innovation.
"In recent years, we have developed a batch of high-end equipment of the international advanced level, such as compressors for 10-million-ton oil refining plants, compressors for 1-millon-ton ethylene plants, storage devices and pipelines for natural gas, as well as 100,000 Nm3/h air separation units. We had to import all these equipment in the past, but now we can produce 70 to 80 percent of these devices," he said.
When asked what state-owned enterprises should do to maintain competitiveness in the future, Dai emphasized four points.
"The first point is reform. We need to further deepen reforms and establish innovation systems and mechanisms that can provide market competitiveness and motivation. The second point is innovation. Only by keeping innovating can we master core technologies and develop cutting-edge products. The third is transformation. He also said the manufacturing industry is at a crucial juncture and should seize the current opportunities to switch to digital and intelligent manufacturing.
