"We will promote fast-track IP protection, by building fast-track IP protection centers that allow quick examination, certification and protection, so as to provide IP protection channels that are more efficient and affordable. China will work to make intellectual property protection more accessible and equal for organizations and individuals, according to China's authorities in IP protection on Tuesday.

On the sidelines of the ongoing session of China's top legislature, the National People's Congress, ministers and heads of various government departments met the press and answered questions concerning their work.

Shen Changyu, head of the State Intellectual Property Office, said that his office will reinforce measures to protect IP rights.

He said his office will step up law enforcement, and coordination with other parts in the judicial system to form an integrated network of IP protection.

Shen stressed that his office will work to make IP protection more accessible.

"We will promote fast-track IP protection, by building fast-track IP protection centers that allow quick examination, certification and protection, so as to provide IP protection channels that are more efficient and affordable. At present, we have built 19 such centers across the nation, and they have worked well. This year, we will open more and optimize operation," he said.

He also emphasized equal treatment for organizations and individuals.

"We aim to provide equal IP protection, which means that we will protect the IP rights of all, whether they are domestic or foreign enterprises, state-owned or private enterprises, big or small enterprises, individuals or organizations, in order to create a better environment for innovation and business," he said.

Shen said that his office will work to promote development of various industries through IP protection, especially in IP-intensive industries.

"We will work hard for the development of IP-intensive industries, including intelligent manufacturing, biomedical science, new generation of mobile communication, among others. Currently, these industries' value added is 12.4 percent of our GDP.
