Storyline

Chinese auto industry plans to coordinate the country's supply-side structural reform with innovations and new technologies, according to Li Shufu, the founder of China's auto company Geely.

Li, also a deputy to the first session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks on the sidelines of the ongoing session on Tuesday.

He said Geely has worked out a plan with specified steps to realize the goal.

"We will continue to consolidate the groundwork and improve our capacities, investing more in fostering talents and researching capacity. We have built some innovation centers across the world, including a large innovation center under construction in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province," said Li.

"We will foster new driving forces and improve old driving forces so as to realize a transition from old to new driving forces," he added.

Greater investment in new technologies is another fundamental approach for the group to coordinate the supply-side structural reform, said Li.

"We will invest more in the area of digital technology. The 21st century is a century of revolution on technology and industry and business reshaping. In this century, the research on online and digital technologies are of great importance, so we need to form the capacity of online services at an early date," he said.

By 2020, more than 90 percent of Geely's models will be new energy cars as the group pushes forward its "Blue Campaign", according to Li.

"We will continue to move forward under the great guidance of the supply-side structural reform from the Party Central Committee and the State Council and continue providing the products that are in line with the new demands of the consumers in a new era for consumption," said Li.
