China's 13th National People's Congress (NPC) adopted this year's government work report at the closing meeting of the annual session on Tuesday after 86 revisions were made to it as suggested by the deputies.
These revisions ranged from expanding accountability for public officials who fail to tackle pollution, to furthering regulations on the training and supervision of preschool teachers.
The additions to the report added up to over 700 characters.
Nearly 3,000 national legislators reviewed the final draft.
Members of China’s political advisory body, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), were also invited to offer their comments.
"We carefully wrote all suggestions from NPC deputies and CPPCC members on the margins of pages in three copies of the government work report. Premier Li Keqiang required us to absorb and adopt as many suggestions as possible, especially ideas that could make the report more accurate and complete," said Han Wenxiu, deputy director of Research Institute of State Council.
The government work report was delivered by Premier Li Keqiang at the first session of the 13th NPC, which opened on March 5 in Beijing.
