The Syrian government forces discovered a tunnel in Kafr Batna, a town in Rif Dimashq Governorate in southern Syria, dug by the anti-government forces on Tuesday.
The local media said the government forces have seized several villages in the region.
A soldier said they found the tunnel during their patrol in Kafr Batna.
"We found the tunnel when patrolling in Kafr Batna. It is some 800 meters long. The anti-government forces move to another village through it. It appears the tunnel is a complete route of supply with air and power supply," said a soldier of Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
The anti-government forces withdrew from Kafr Batna on Tuesday after reaching an agreement with the government forces and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent arrived at the town to hand out humanitarian aid to the locals.
"The Red Crescent came in after the government forces and offered assistance to all the residents after a long period of supply shortage," said a resident.
"We had no relief before and our children starved. I, as an adult, have become tired of eating just Khubz (round Arabic bread) and other stale food. The children were in awful conditions as they could only live on grass," said another resident.
